Why Take This Tour?

Most travelers eat pasta in Rome. But only a lucky few learn to make it from scratch—with wine in hand, flour on their fingertips, and a Roman chef by their side. In this intimate Rome pasta making class, you’ll unlock the secrets of two Italian icons: handmade pasta and velvety gelato. Limited to just 14 guests in our private Rome cooking school, this isn’t just a meal—it’s a memory you’ll take home (and recreate in your own kitchen).

The Benefits of Making Homemade Pasta in Rome

Pasta has been part of Roman cooking since antiquity, when the earliest versions were nothing more than flour and water. Egg-based dough and bronze-cut shapes came later, and semolina flour, still a staple across Lazio today, is what gives Roman pasta its signature bite. Learning to make it yourself means picking up the instincts passed down through generations, like why Romans reach for pecorino over parmigiano, and how to tell the dough is ready by touch rather than a timer. You'll leave with more than a full stomach: real technique you can actually use at home, and a genuine feel for why Italians treat a meal like this as something to share, not rush.

Welcome to the Best Pasta Making Class in Rome

Your Rome pasta making class starts with a welcome glass of prosecco, traditional Italian snacks, and conversation with fellow students and the local chefs who teach the class. Once all the introductions have been made, it’s time to learn how to make fettucine and ravioli with one red and one white sauce—such as amatriciana, puttanesca, butter-sage and Parmigiano, or cacio e pepe, depending on the season.

Roll, Fill, and Master the Art of Pasta Making

You’ll learn every step and do it all yourself in this Rome pasta making class: from mixing the ingredients to kneading the dough and making the sauce. No previous experience is necessary—your chef will guide you through the whole process and answer any questions you have. It's a great experience for seasoned cooks, amateurs, and even bambini (kids)!

Throughout the experience, your chef will teach you take-home tricks for cooking the perfect pasta, such as the different uses of various flours, how to pair pasta with sauce, and the best substitute ingredients you can source at home.

Sit Down to the Meal You Created

The highlight of your Rome pasta making class will be gathering around the table with your new friends to enjoy your hard work. After enjoying your pasta with plenty of Italian wine, wrap it all up with a homemade dessert of gelato, created and presented to you by your expert chef while your pasta settles. You truly are doing as the Romans do now!

Small groups are what make our cooking classes in Rome such enjoyable experiences. With only 14 people or fewer, you’ll find it easy to get to know the rest of your group and have plenty of time to chat with the chef. Our cooking school is equipped with modern kitchens and brand new appliances to give you the best pasta-making experience. In this relaxed environment on a small street in charming Trastevere, you’ll feel comfortable and perfectly at home.

Please note that this description is an example and stops or tastes may vary depending on the season, day of the week, and group size. Regardless of where your tour goes, you always have a delicious experience.

Our pasta and gelato making session with Luca & Stefano was absolutely wonderful! We took our 6 children aged 5-15 & my parents. They catered beautifully to the wide range of ages and made us feel so incredibly welcome. We were so touched by their patience and kindness. Would recommend unreservedly. 5 stars!

It was amazing! Would 100% recommend doing this. There were twelve of us altogether and the chefs were so funny and friendly but also answered any question we had. The food turned out really nice and there was lots of prosecco going around.
